Effective Date: October 14, 2011

Last revision: May 18, 2017

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes the personally identifiable information that South West Florida Horse Rescue, Inc. (“SWFHR,” “we,” “us”) collects through our website located at www.swfhr.org (the “Site”) and how we use that information.  Our Site has been created to accomplish our mission while aiding the betterment of equines in the southwest Florida region with the help of Web Site visitors (“you”, “your”).  Please note that this Privacy Policy applies solely to our online information-gathering and dissemination practices in connection with the Site, and does not apply to any of our practices conducted offline. If you have any questions or comments about this Privacy Policy or our practices regarding your personally identifiable information, please contact us at info@swfhr.org. To fully understand your rights, we encourage you to read this Privacy Policy in its entirety. We reserve the right at any time and without notice to change this Privacy Policy simply by posting such changes on our Site. Any such change will be effective immediately upon posting. The following lays out the information that we collect and how we use the information.

SWFHR collects two types of information about users of our Site:

(1) Personally identifiable information (PII): In general, you do not have to provide us with your personally identifiable information to use this Site. However, certain services to which you may subscribe through this Site (e.g., our newsletters) may require you to provide personally identifiable information, such as your name, physical address, organization name, and email address. You may also be required to submit personally identifiable information, including your credit card number and account information, in connection with purchases and donations that you make through the Site. We use such personally identifiable information to respond to your inquiries, send you newsletters or publications that you request, and to fulfill your orders and process your donations. You may also receive other mailings relating to SWFHR that we think may be of interest to you. If you decide at any time that you no longer wish to receive emails from us, please refer to the paragraph below headed “Changing or Deleting Personal Information.”

If you contact us by email through the Site or submit forms though the Site, we will collect any personally identifiable information that you transmit to us and we may keep a record of your contact information and correspondence, and we reserve the right to use your email address, and any information that you provide to us in your message, to communicate with you. In addition, on rare occasions, we may send by email important administrative information regarding the Site or services to users who have provided us with their email addresses; because this information may be important to your use of the Site and is regarding our ongoing relationship, it is not possible to “opt out” of receiving these emails.

(2)Non-personally identifiable information: We may use cookies to collect non-personally identifiable information in connection with the Site. Our web pages may incorporate “pixel tags,” “web beacons,” or similar tracking technologies (collectively, “pixel tags”) that allow us or our agents to track the actions of users of our Site. Pixel tags are used to collect non-personally identifiable information, such as the name of your internet service provider, the IP address of the computer you are using, the type of browser software and operating system that you use, the date and time you access our Site, the website address, if any, from which you linked directly to our Site, the website address, if any, to which you travel from our Site, and other similar traffic-related information. We may also aggregate your information with similar data collected from other users to help us improve our Site and the services that we provide through our Site. We do not use such data in any way to create or maintain a personal profile of you.

How We Disclose the Information We Gather

We reserve the right to provide such information to our employees, contractors, agents, and designees to the extent necessary to enable them to perform certain Site-related services (e.g., web hosting and maintenance services, improving the Site and its features, and fulfilling orders and processing donations) on our behalf. We also reserve the right to disclose such information to any third party if we believe that we are required to do so for any or all of the following reasons: (i) by law; (ii) to comply with legal processes or governmental requests; (iii) to prevent, investigate, detect, or prosecute criminal offenses or attacks on the technical integrity of the Site or our network; and/or (iv) to protect the rights, property, or safety of SWFHR and its affiliates, its and their partners and employees, the users of the Site, and the public. Additionally, SWFHR reserves the right to transfer any and all information that we collect from users, or that we otherwise collect in connection with the Site, including, without limitation, to unaffiliated third parties or affiliated third parties (i.e., other legal entities of SWFHR), in the event of a sale or transfer of assets or of any portion of our business.

Children’s Privacy

We welcome users of all ages, including children under the age of thirteen. Due to our status as a non-profit organization, we are not required to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). However, we strongly encourage our users aged thirteen and under to use our services only with parental consent.  SWFHR recognizes the privacy interests of children and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities and interests. This Site is not intended for children under the age of 13. SWFHR does not target its services or this Site to children under 13 and SWFHR does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.

Security
SWFHR may use commercially reasonable security measures consistent with industry practice to assist in protecting against the loss, misuse, and alteration of personally identifiable information which is under our control. Unfortunately, no security system, or system of transmitting data over the Internet, can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we undertake commercially reasonable efforts to protect your personally identifiable information, we cannot guarantee the security of our servers, the means by which information is transmitted between your computer and SWFHR’s servers, or any information provided to us or to any third party through or in connection with the Site. You provide all such information entirely at your own risk.

Links to Other Web Sites
Our Site contains links to other websites. For example, our Site allows you to submit donations through PayPal®, a third-party payment processor. Please be aware that we are not and cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of such other websites and that this Privacy Policy applies solely to the information which we collect through this Site. We encourage you to ensure that you read the privacy statements of all the destination websites which you visit.

Social Media
Through the Site, you can choose to access certain social media web sites and services that are owned and controlled by third parties (e.g. Facebook and Twitter) (the “Social Media Services”). When you elect to access and use the Social Media Services, you will be sharing your information (which will include personal information if you elect to share such information) with those Social Media Services. As with other Third Party Sites, the information that you share with the Social Media Services will be governed by the privacy policies and terms of service of the providers of such Social Media Services and not by the policies and procedures we describe here.

Google Analytics
“Like many services, Google Analytics uses … cookies to track visitor interactions. These cookies are used to store information, such as what time the current visit occurred, whether the visitor has been to the site before, and what site referred the visitor to the web page. Browsers do not share … cookies across domains” (from the Google Analytics privacy overview). SWFHR does not collect personally identifiable information from these third-party tools, nor provide them with additional PII. We use IP masking in order to share only a portion of the IP address for geolocation. In addition, Google provides an Opt-out Browser Add-on “to indicate that information about the website visit should not be sent to Google Analytics.” SWFHR does not endorse and makes no representation about the effectiveness of the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

TELL-A-FRIEND
If any donor or visitor elects to use our online referral service to inform a friend about our Site, we ask them for the friend’s name and email address. SWFHR will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them to visit the Site. SWFHR temporarily stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email. After the email is sent, the information (friend’s name and email address) is promptly removed.

Revisions to Privacy Policy

The Internet and the benefits it offers are evolving rapidly, as are the ways in which people use the Internet and the laws surrounding such use. SWFHR therefore reserves the right to update and revise this Privacy Policy at any time. You can determine if this Privacy Policy has been revised since your last visit by referring to the “Last revision” date at the top of this page. Your use of our Site constitutes your acceptance of the terms of the Privacy Policy as amended or revised by us, and you should therefore review this Privacy Policy regularly to ensure that you are aware of its terms. Your continued use of this Site and/or continued provision of personally identifiable information to us will be subject to the terms of the then-current Privacy Policy.
